Growing Up Mudra

Jillian is 8 weeks old today! It was a big day for Jillian because Mom and Dad were able to attend a picnic at the Governor’s mansion and she was with a sitter for the first time. As we dropped her off at Jennifer’s house (our wonderful neighbor), she started to get fussy and I thought Jennifer may wish she never offered. It turns out she did really well and only had a few fussy times (which is normal for her in the evening). As for Mom and Dad, we were excited to meet Governor Strickland and shake his hand…didn’t think to bring a camera! The pics below are from Jillian’s lunchtime with her Daddy today!

The other day when I took pictures of Jillian in the green outfit and headband, I had quite a few pictures that I liked. Here are some more of her from that day that I just loved! These were taken in her room in which the lighting is way different. It really does make her look different than the other pictures taken in my room. No big deal, still shows her cute little face and her crazy hair!

So I know I have been horrible about updating lately…I feel like the older Jillian gets the less time I have. We were out of town this past weekend for a family reunion so I was unable to post this weekend. Yesterday I had a moment to do some more photographs of Jillian. I couldn’t resist putting her in this outfit along with her matching headband (thanks Aunt Barb for the new headbands!). As you can see, she isn’t sleeping as much and I’m able to get more pictures with her eyes open. Joe came home and asked why our baby looked like Rambo! I don’t think she looked like Rambo, but maybe Olivia Newton John, say around the “Let’s get physical” era! Either way, she was cute to me!

It is hard for me to believe that 7 weeks have already passed since Jillian was born! I’m no longer thinking about how many weeks have gone by but how many weeks I have left to hang out with her before I go back to work…it is creeping up on me quickly. It is going to be so hard leaving her with someone else when I go back to work. I just don’t want to miss all those little milestones that she hits during each day. Yesterday she completely rolled over on her side and back to her back again. Her smiles are still limited but she is smiling more; I haven’t gotten one on camera yet but hopefully soon!

Before Jillian arrived, we were so nervous about how Loki was going to react to the baby. For the most part, he isn’t bad around kids, but he has snapped at our niece Jersey a couple times which made us worry. Since Jillian’s arrival, he has started to understand that this little girl has become our sole focus. When she cries, he goes to check on her and then comes to tell me that she isn’t happy. He is always in the room where I am sitting, whether it is in her room, sleeping in our bedroom, or sitting here with me now while I’m on the computer. I feel bad because he doesn’t get as much attention anymore but he has definitely adjusted. Now Jillian is just starting to look at him and try to figure him out; he catches her eye occasionally and she just stares at him. Overall, Loki has been a good boy and I think he loves Jillian as much as we do!
